Hasami ware is porcelain made in Hasami Town, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. It is a traditional Japanese craft that was created around 1600, but even today it is loved by many people for its high design quality and ease of use as everyday tableware.

The center of gravity is low and the mouth is wide. It's designed to be held not just by the handle, but also by wrapping both hands around it on cold days.
The cup is also sloped to make it easier to scoop soup ingredients with the spoon.
The corners of the inside of the cup's base are rounded, making it easy to wash and keep clean.
